College Street Counseling
Therapy for individuals, couples counseling, partner groups, and families
Our therapists provide individual, couple and group therapy to support you through life’s challenges, change, and grow.
If therapy is new to you, here’s an idea of what to expect: roughly hour-long dedicated sessions, typically once a week or every two weeks, where you and your provider work together to explore and strengthen your ability to move toward your goals.
This work can happen lots of ways, including exploring how your past shapes what you believe and do now, learning to listen to and trust yourself, or aligning communication and action with what you want to achieve. As therapists, we have multiple ways of working toward goals, and the methods we use depend on our training and how you want to work. Therapy is a close collaboration.
The process is similar to physical therapy - we visit when we have an injury to heal from or something isn’t working the way we need it to. Our physical therapist assesses how we’re moving now and where we want to be then works with us to learn and practice new ways to move.
Therapy of all kinds is almost always challenging, uncomfortable, and sometimes painful. It’s hard work; we get what we put into it, especially how much we use what we learn outside appointments. There are no guarantees. But it can have powerful results - therapy introduces potential freedom to move in new ways, let go of old patterns that hold us back, and experience life differently.
